FROM OUR CHAIRPERSON
Dear Friends,
As I write to you in this, my second and final term as Chairman of the Board of Directors for
Rappahannock United Way, I am filled with immense gratitude and pride for what we have
accomplished together. Over the past two years, I have had the privilege to witness firsthand the
unwavering commitment of our community to improving lives and creating opportunities for all to
thrive. It is an honor to be part of an organization that mobilizes the caring power of our community to
tackle challenges and deliver purposeful solutions.
Reflecting on our mission and the path we have traveled, I am reminded of the challenges we faced in a
post-COVID world. Traditional funding sources, such as the workplace campaign, experienced
significant shifts as our work environments evolved. Yet, through determination and collaboration, we
have not only persevered but thrived. Our Executive Director, Janel Donohue, along with our dedicated
staff and resolute Board of Directors, rose to the occasion with innovative strategies and steadfast
resolve. Together, we forged a sustainable path forward, ensuring that Rappahannock United Way
remains a beacon of hope and support for our community.
A cornerstone of our work this past year has been the continued growth of our Prosper Programs.
These initiatives extend beyond helping ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed)
households; they are designed to support individuals and families across all economic backgrounds.
Through financial workshops, 1-on-1 coaching, and targeted resources, we are empowering people to
build brighter, more stable futures. This is the essence of our mission—to create opportunities for
everyone in our community to thrive.
As I prepare to pass the torch to the next Chairman of the Board, I am confident in the future of
Rappahannock United Way. The challenges we have faced together have only strengthened our resolve
and deepened our commitment to fostering a thriving community. To our donors, member agencies,
volunteers, staff, and board members—thank you for your passion, generosity, and dedication. You are
the heart and soul of our mission.
As we look ahead, let us continue to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community,
creating a community that is hopeful, resilient and self-sufficient. Together, we will build a brighter
future for everyone in the Rappahannock region.
With deepest gratitude and optimism,
Ron Holmes
Chairman of the Board, Rappahannock United Way
