EMPOWERING HEALTHY LIVING
Rappahannock United Way is focused on creating a healthier community. We support and
implement programs that help individuals and families develop healthy habits, access
health resources and avoid risky behaviors. Last year we helped people overcome barriers
to good health by improving access to healthcare-related resources and services.
RIDE UNITED
SINGLECARE
The Ride United initiative seeks to
reduce transportation barriers that
prevent individuals from accessing
vital healthcare resources by
providing free ride-share coupons.
SingleCare is a national partnership
with United Way that seeks to reduce
the costs of prescription medicines
for those in need.
Last year, Rappahannock United
Way issued over 440 Ride United
rides, with over 40% being used for
healthcare services.
WELCOME HOME BASKETS
Rappahannock United Way is dedicated to
creating a healthier community by supporting
safe, stable housing and programs that empower
families to build healthy habits and recover from
challenges like eviction or homelessness.
In 2024, Rappahannock United Way partnered
with local nonprofit organizations, to provide
Welcome Home Kits to low to moderate income
individuals and families as they move in to
permanent, safe and sustainable housing.
Welcome Home Kits include some of the
essential items needed to maintain a safe and
healthy home – such as a laundry basket,
laundry detergent, dish washing supplies and
toilet tissue. Many of these essential items can
be expensive to purchase. Last year volunteers
helped put together 20 ‘Welcome Home’ baskets
for local individuals and families.

SingleCare, 2,187 individuals saved
$338,090 in prescription costs
through the distribution of
prescription drug discount cards to
low-moderate income community
members.
